MYCCI Mentoring Scheme

For the second year, Balance Accountants are involved in the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce & Industry mentoring scheme. The scheme involves working with long term jobseekers who have a business idea but need help to get it off the ground. Balance provide volunteer mentors who work with individual job seekers as they put together their business plan and go on to support them during the first 6 months of trading. It is a rewarding and fulfilling volunteer role where mentors can contribute directly to the success of an individual as they to prepare to take their first daunting steps into self employment.

So far we have mentored a plasterer, a plumbing and heating engineer and a belly dancer, all looking to get off long term benefits and into a rewarding self employed business.

As Balance Managing Director Ashley Barrowclough says….” It is financially difficult to jump from long term benefits straight into self employment and the Chamber of Commerce scheme helps to bridge the financial gap and at the same time provide sound  business mentoring which will hopefully ensure the success of the fledgling business owners.”
