Jim Robison – Seventy at Seventy at Holmfirth Art Week

As you may or may not be aware, Holmfirth has its Art Week every year since 1967, usually the first full week in July.  Many artists, both local and national, converge on Holmfirth to show their work at the main site, The Civic Hall, and at many fringe venues around Holmfirth and surrounding villages.

Jim Robison has been a client of ours for many years, and has been a sculptor and ceramic artist for many years longer.  Originally from the USA, who moved to Holmfirth in 1973 and opened his Booth House Gallery in 1975.  He exhibits each year at the Art Week.

This year is a bigger deal for Jim than most previous years.  This year he decided to make 70 substantial pieces, from extruded vases to garden furniture, to celebrate his 70th birthday.  In fact, when I spoke to Jim last week he confirmed that he had exceeded his goal.  The show starts at the Booth House Gallery, just above Holmfirth, on 4th July to coincide with Holmfirth Art Week and continues until September.

Jim is a well-respected name in his field, travelling internationally to take part in a wide variety of workshops and lectures.  Learn more about Jim on his own website, www.boothhousegallery.co.uk, on the Holmfirth Festivals website.

Holmfirth’s Art Week is a great event and is well worth a visit.  Try to make it over here next week to view the wide range of artists work on show.  But also make sure you leave enough time to visit Jim and to take in his 70+ creations.  At least if you don’t manage to make it here for Art Week itself then you’ve got all summer to drop by Booth House Gallery, which this year, also boasts a new Woodland Walk feature.

Here’s wishing Jim a fantastic show, Art Week and summer.
